Position Summary:
To raise funds and awareness for JAFCO primarily through event management, donor stewardship and Development Team programs.
Role and Responsibilities
This person’s job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and coordinate special events including luncheons, cocktail parties, card parties, golf outings, and other events with the goal of raising operational funds.
- Handle special event registration, seating, committee support, silent auction and boutique preparation, event set up and execution, pre and/or post event tasks, and follow up as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, calendars, expenses, and income for each event.
- Manage event committees, volunteers, and staff from inception through completion of projects.
- Provide tours on-site and public speaking presentations off-site to new and existing donors or other community groups to raise funds and awareness.
- Provide follow-up and donor stewardship to retain existing donors.
- Supervise and assist in the creation of direct mail pieces, newsletters, brochures, fact sheets and other written and digital marketing materials, including the organization of data, information, and photographs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or a related field with a minimum two years related experience in sales, marketing, communications and/or event planning. An Associate Degree with a minimum of four years related practical experience also acceptable
- Written and verbal communications: ability to make formal and informal presentations, participate in meetings, write reports and correspondence
- Proficiency planning and coordinating special events
- Detail oriented with ability to demonstrate organizational and problem-solving skills, set objectives, complete necessary follow-up and provide timely and accurate reports
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office in the areas of word processing, database, spreadsheets and light desk-top publishing for flyers and invitations, etc
- Non-profit experience preferred
- Knowledge of community resources and contacts a plus
- Database experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred
- Social media experience with Facebook and Twitter
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to fulfill the requirements of the position
