BCBA/Behavioral Specialist

Position Summary:

Coordinate the development, implementation, and supervision of behavior support to all programming and clinical services provided through the JAFCO Children’s Ability Center.

This person’s job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate behavioral aspects of program development and implementation to ensure safety, structure, and enrichment for the children
  • Provide comprehensive behavior trainings for staff, parents, and members of the community
  • Provide consultation to the Social Work team for the behavioral needs of their clients
  • Attend team meetings, parent conferences and school/community meetings to provide support for behavioral issues
  • Oversee child-staff pairings for programming and respite services, and assist with the appropriate placement of children in enrichment classes for after-school programming
  • Physically provide on-site behavioral interventions as needed and model positive behavior skills for all staff to use moving forward
  • Assess individual child needs to develop behavior plans and necessary supportive material
  • Provide direct and indirect ABA services to families through consultation on clinical cases, involvement in programming, and on an as needed basis

Accountable for completing necessary paperwork including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assessments
  • Progress notes
  • Service plans
  • Documentation of supervision
  • Behavior and programmatic data, materials, and plans
  • Strong crisis intervention skills with ability to effectively de-escalate and problem-solve to promote safety and stability
  • Participate in the intake of new clients as needed
  • Provide backup to clinical and on-call team as needed
  • Conduct observations and provide feedback to staff on following client-specific behavior intervention plans and protocols, and review relevant data
  • Provide supervision to staff who require supervision hours to maintain or obtain their certification (RBT, BCaBA, etc)
  • Model appropriate boundaries and ethical behavior to clients and staff, and supervise such behaviors of supervisees
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding issues of concern, and seek clarification when needed
  • Be available and flexible to assist within a changing schedule to meet the need for all programs

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Master’s Degree required
  • Certified BCBA, plus 3 years’ experience
  • Experience in programming and appropriate intervention with children with developmental disabilities
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must maintain Bodily Injury Liability insurance of $100,000 per claim, $300,000 per incident on their personal automobile when driving clients or their children
  • Experience with supervision and consultation
  • Excellent communication skills to support and train staff
  • Completion of annual 40 hours of in-service training yearly
  • Maintain CPR, First Aid and Water Safety Certification
  • PCM Certification
