Emergency Shelter

Sometimes a family crisis can leave children without a parent or family member to care for them – often in the middle of the night.

Situations can include child abuse, domestic violence, incarceration, illness of the parent or sometimes even death. The Marsh Children’s Center resembles a beautiful home with six bedrooms with private baths, a living room, dining room, library, pool, playground, and basketball court. The center provides emergency shelter for a child (ages birth to 12) in crisis and is open to accept children 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  All the children are experiencing the trauma of separation from their family in addition to the abuse or neglect they have suffered. Every effort is made by JAFCO staff and volunteers to make the children feel safe, protected and loved.
