Children’s Ability Center: Where Purpose Blooms

Every young adult deserves to discover their full potential. At the JAFCO Children’s Ability Center, Ability@Work and the Wildflower initiative makes certain that happens.

Participants design, package, market, and create beautiful floral arrangements crafted from recycled materials at boutiques, community events, and art fairs. They not only build real job readiness skills, but they also contribute something genuinely lovely to the world.

Through Ability@Work at the Ability Center, young adults with developmental disabilities gain the vocational and life skills that open doors to greater independence and meaningful employment. They learn valuable skills such as customer service, money management, teamwork, and marketing along with building the confidence to communicate their thoughts, ideas, and emotions. These are not just programs. They are pathways to purpose and proof that creativity, determination, and the desire to contribute know no limits.

Recently, Ability@Work welcomed wonderful community partners who provide tremendous support to our participants. The Jewish Federation of Broward County PJ Library® participated in a flower making and honey cake baking workshop to celebrate the New Year. Goodman Jewish Family Services of Broward County created, in partnership with Ability@Work, the “Friend Pals” program to offer greater community connections for our young adults. Finally, Broward Center for the Performing Arts will be offering theater classes in the coming weeks for our participants to learn the art of the stage through music and dance.

Thank you to the volunteers and supporters for their contribution to this grassroots initiative. We just kicked off a new season of activities and enrichment, and it would not be possible without their heart and generosity.

If you see us out in the community, we hope you will stop by our table or booth – we would love to say hello and brighten your day with beautiful flowers.
